I moved from Sweden to the US in 1998. I have yet to recover from the culture shock. The worst part is the coffee. It's dreadfully weak. You are not supposed to be able to see the bottom of the cup when it's filled to the brim with coffee.

I used to live down the street from Apple. It was lovely, because the first computer I owned was a Quadra 700. I still use a Mac, a blue G3, running Yellow Dog Linux. In addition I have a Fujitsu LifeBook.

Currently I live in Sunnyvale, but it seems we may be on the move again. Perhaps to Santa Clara or Mountain View. We'll see.

My first contact with computers was a system called COMPIS (COMPuter In School). A Swedish computer designed by The [Swedish] National Agency for Education (Skolverket) and manufactured by Esselte. I took a programming class in 7nth grade. The language was Comal, which is (I am told) not unlike Basic. I recall:

10 PRINT "TINA"
20 GOTO 10
RUN

At the time computers failed to impress me (I had yet to see War Games) and the next semester I signed up for an art class instead.

In the following years I had a few school assignments that needed to be completed in Word, but it wasn't until I was 19 that I bonded with computers in earnest. I met my first Mac and logged onto my first MOO. I bought my first computer and borrowed a 14 4 modem. When PMC MOO turned post modern I relocated to ID MOO and when ID MOO vanished in a hard disk failure I was introduced to Nuclear War MUD (Nuke).

I met my Significant Other on Nuke, and it brought me to the US.

As for my other interests, I read a lot. A perfect blend of good and bad literature. I let my mood choose. Some days I just want Star Trek or Guy Gavriel Kay.

I play paintball, Magic: The Gathering and chess now and then. I own a Tippmann 98, a lot of cards, and a chess board.

I am currently a student at Mission College. I completed my AS degree in Computer Information Systems, and graduated with honors, the fall of 2004. Now I am studying part time to become transferable to a university for a BS in Computer Science or Mathematics. I haven't decided yet. I'd love a job. If you have one that you think is right for me, please contact me.
